My Delightful DVD Player Story

My friends dragged me shopping the other day. It was some kind of big electronics shop, and we were just kind of looking at all the cool stuff. I didn’t expect to buy anything, just a way to kill a Saturday afternoon when you don’t have anything to do. My friend might have mentioned that he was shopping for a vacuum cleaner or something. I was absolutely flabbergasted when I saw what they had there that you could buy.
There were these awesome DVD players, that seemed like they were portable or something. I had always thought you needed to plug your DVD player into your TV at home or something. But these were different. These were completely self contained. These were small, about half the size of a laptop computer. Of course this included the screen also. I was overcome with joy, until I realized you’d have to plug it in to some kind of electrical outlet. These can be hard to find in some parts of town.
I was brought back to bliss and happiness when I learned that these little gems can be run from batteries. Some of these have batteries that run for up to six hours. That meant I could go to Starbucks, buy a large coffee, and then sit there and watch DVDs while I sipped my coffee. This was likely the greatest invention ever. Hold on a second. Wouldn’t the sound from my DVD player bother all the people who were around me and trying to study or something?
That’s when I got the second surprise of my shopping day. Quite a few of these DVD players come with headphone jacks. That means you can plug in and listen in total privacy. You wouldn’t bother anybody else. And no matter what the sound was in your environment, your headphones would block them out, enhancing your DVD watching experience. But just as I was about to pick one up for purchase, I was hijacked yet again by my imagination. Surely these DVD players must be several hundred, or even a thousand dollars.
That’s when I received the biggest shock of the day. Most of these were around a hundred dollars. Some were a bit more, and some were a bit less. I probably have that much money on the floor in my car. Luckily, this store took credit cards. So I bought my own portable DVD player, and I have been happy ever since.

Fuel prices have continuously soared up the roof and it has been a endless struggle for consumers to deal with their increase and to be able to incorporate it into their budgets. There are new car models which are considered to be economy friendly in terms of gas consumption. But does that mean all people have to get a new car in order to save gas? There has to be some method to save gas using the current vehicles we’ve got right now!
The reality is there actually are numerous solutions to save gas. Whether you are a stick shift driver or someone driving an automobile with automatic transmission, there are general ideas to help you save up on the amount of gasoline used by your automobiles. Below are some of those general ideas which can assist you save gas.
As a general rule, continue to keep your automobile in good shape. Those regular examinations are meant to make sure your vehicle is running in its most efficient and effective state. If for instance, your car needs oil or spark plug change and you postpone it, what would happen is your car wouldn’t burn fuel efficiently, causing it to utilize morefor the vehicle to operate. What is even worst is that once the car gets damaged as you prolong the necessary tune up, it might lead to bigger problems which would cause you to spend more money.
One other good tip is to ensure your tires are properly aired. Tire gauges play a huge factor as it allows your cars to operate smoothly. If your car is running on tires with less than recommended tire pressure, then you are actually making your car exert more effort to operate. With the proper air ratio, your tires should be able to make your vehicle run with less effort.
Have you got a lot of stuff lying within your car? Remove it! Weight plays a factor in the quantity of fuel necessary to make your car or truck run in the speed you desire. The heavier the car, the more gas burned to make your car or truck move.
Given that we have discussed the issues with the car itself, let us now navigate to the way you drive. When you step on the pedal then suddenly stop, you waste some of the burned fuel. Stepping on the pedal means making the vehicle go faster by burning more fuel. Suddenly stopping would waste much of the fuel burned. In the event you keep your acceleration to a certain speed, then you’re efficiently managing your gas consumption.
Avoid stepping on the gas pedal to rev up your engine. This uselessly burns fuel. This might make you sound good, but it is for nothing! It wastes a lot of fuel which might have been employed to transport you to your destination.
The final two tips we have go together. Avoid rush hours and try to plan your trips. Rush hours mean continuously having a stop and go motion. Some part of gas is worthlessly used in this process. Planning your trips however avoids those unnecessary turns that make you go around in circles.

A proper clean-up routine must be followed to keep your car’s finish looking great. It does not matter whether your car is worth $100,000 or $1,000 or if it is an off-road car or a luxury showroom car they all need the proper care.
With the use of proper protection paint treatments and the use of the right equipment a car’s exterior finish can be kept from cracking and damage along with the inside of the car.
A good exterior wash is the most critical step in this process. While hosing off at a car wash beats leaving your car covered in dirt, a proper cleaning usually requires more than water pressure. Many things that ruin your car’s finish need to be removed and these are, bird droppings, salt and dirt.
Any washing liquid will not do you must use the proper car washing liquids. Some people choose to just use dish-washing liquid which damages the finish by stripping the paint.
Large amounts of dirt seem to get caked on at the bottom of your car so do not forget this, also when washing start at the top first. Start with the least abrasive cleaner you have on hand and if that doesn’t work, use something more powerful. Try to avoid using too much pressure as that can damage the finish. Instead of relying on force use the proper liquids to remove certain things.
Cleaning the inside of your car is just as important to do after you have completed the outside. Removing trash and sweeping will improve your comfort when traveling in your vehicle. When you have leather seats or any other material you must properly protect them by wiping them over with UV resistant polish.
Clean the inside of your windows thoroughly so that you can see out of them properly. The amount of grime that builds up over a little time is amazing and if not tended to a dirty window means poor vision and it can quite easily cause an accident. Smokers will notice that the inside of the windows will grow dirtier much quicker.
The next step in protecting your car after you have washed it is to polish it up. Either one will add gloss and help preserve the finish. Do this in the shade every time and test a small area first removing the entire polish before you start a new area. Do not let it dry completely as the paint will become damaged.
Even the tires car be brought back to life with strengthening sprays that bring back the black to them.
If this begins to sound like too much work, or something you don’t have the tools, inclination or space to handle, don’t despair. For a pretty cheap and reasonable price there are professional car cleaning places that can do all of the work for you.

Our cars are our pride and joy and when your parents finally hands the keys over to you there is nothing more breathtaking and unforgettable. When we get our cars however we can forget that we have to take care of them more than what we already do. Car grooming is a large part of having a car these days and we should take better care of our cars to ensure that they stay healthy for a long time and that when we decide to sell it, we get a decent amount of money for it. So what are the little things that we can do now and then to make sure our cars do not get as filthy as they previously have?
If there is one helpful tip that everyone should try to integrate into their usual car grooming is to have a small rubbish bag in your car. There are usually times when driving around that we may be eating or drinking in the car and once we are done with the containers and cans we do not have an appropriate place to discard them. When we find ourselves in such scenarios we either throw the rubbish onto the seat beside us or we throw it in the backseat and forget about it. Children are guilty as well when it comes to rubbish in the car, and you cannot know what is going on back there while driving. So keep a plastic bag up front of the car and in the back seat all the time to make sure rubbish is not scattered everywhere.
Another thing we can do to make our car grooming lives easier is to always have toothpaste in our glove boxes. Now, this may sound weird and strange, but the toothpaste helps get rid of stains that may crop up on our leather or dashboards. This makes cleaning our cars a little easier and we will not get as troubled by stains and marks when we know we can simply get rid of it with good old toothpaste.
Baby wipes and tissues should be at hand in our cars as they come in so much handy we will be wanting to make a mess just so we can simply clean it up. If you permit people to eat and drink in your car then you are almost certainly at one time or another going to experience some accidents and have some dried up food on your floor. This is why tissues and baby wipes are so essential in ensuring your car does not get damaged or dirty and can be simply cleaned up in no time.
Car grooming needs to be done more regularly than what we could be used to. Yet if we include some of those helpful tips next time we need to clean the car then maybe we will endure less mess in the future and our cars will be better off.

This Woman Prefers Used Cars
[I:http://olimpiaclub.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/JenLong7.jpg]If there is one thing I hate more than selling a used car, it is buying one. When I sell, I want to make sure my buyer is satisfied and I am always worried about some honestly unknown problem that may reveal itself within days of a sale. I know other sellers aren’t as haunted by such scruples when I am on the buying end and that makes me cringe. All the same, I am allergic to the mountain of payments that come with the genuine new car smell. So I carefully weigh the new versus used vehicle argument when I am in need of a reliable set of wheels.
The used car argument won out for me a couple of weeks ago with the help of a couple of stout-hearted and used-car-buying girlfriends. After combing Craigslist and meeting some dubious owners and their “babied” beaters, I had finally found a reputable car with a decent Carfax rap sheet and the promise of turbo diesel fuel-savings.
Despite all due diligence, less than a week later my “new” car sat under a tree in my yard, refusing to start. This is a most unpleasant situation, as any car owner will recognize. I could just hear a chorus of “I told you so” welling up from my new-car addicted family. I calmed down and did a little shooting before deciding it was quite possibly nothing more than a fuel filter problem.
I take no pleasure in the workings under a car’s hood but I don’t let that scare me off thinking that I might be able to save a few bucks. I cruised to Youtube and found an instructional video on how to change the fuel filter with nothing more than a few tools I already had in the garage, plus a pair of latex gloves to protect my manicure. I cheered myself on through several pauses and rewinds as I settled on how exactly to go about the task. “Any idiot can do this,” I assured myself, gathering my courage and pushing back from the computer. The instructor’s voice droned on in the background as I made my way out to the car.
Screw driver and vice grips in my latex-gloved hands, I lifted the hood to get on with the task. Alas, none of the hose clamps resembled anything closely to what I’d seen on the video or anywhere else before. They resisted every maneuver I could think necessary to unclasp them. I slammed the hood shut and stormed back in the house to see what I’d missed in the last few seconds of the video. Perhaps there were some additional pointers.
Catching those last thirty seconds of video turned out to be priceless, so to speak. The hitherto confident instructor was trying for all he was worth to get his car to start with the new fuel filter, nearly burning out his starter with the failed attempts. As a postscript, he confessed he had to put the old filter back in to get the car running.
Some people, perhaps like myself, can’t resist publishing their failures. Why this mechanical guru insisted on not editing out those last thirty seconds, I do not know. But he did inspire me, that is to call a tow service and get my “new” car in the hands of a decent mechanic. I’ve decided that I can manage this repair bill (Yikes, it turned out to be the fuel pump!) because I am still convinced of the car’s intrinsic worth to me.
Time will tell the wisdom of my particular car purchase. Buying anything with moving parts is always a gamble. But signing on for five years of monthly payments is the kind of sure thing I don’t want. For the time being, I don’t have to worry about interminable monthly car payments and I will keep my box of latex gloves handy for checking the oil or polishing my paid-for beast.
With a lifetime of experience in gloves, Jen Long now directs web content for a large U.S. web-based store that provides Latex Gloves at Greatly Discounted Prices. Jen is also creating a resource library to educate all glove wearers: Latex Glove Facts.
